PS I finished

By the way, I finished my sprint triathlon in less than 2 hours!  The swim was freezing, could not breathe normally the entire way.  The bike was fun fun; passed a lot of people, played leapfrog with another triathlete, and caught up to my young cousin!  The run was hard, hillier than I ever ran before and really really hot.  The sun was out in full force and it was hot and sweaty and only 8:30 am!  Anyway, I finished in under 2 hours which was a goal.   I really enjoyed it and the training.  The drive was a little long, so I need to find another tri closer to home next year.

Commit.

Getting back on the exercise and eating right wagon.
The date is set and the goal is set.
I can reach it with diligence, commitment and the alarm clock.

I need to exercise in the morning before work. Otherwise, I will never do it.
Something else fun always comes up in the evenings and or I have a lot less initiative.

So last week...
Monday - Cycling 45 minutes - lifting arms
Tuesday - Swimming with Jennifer.  a good workout and chat with a friend.
Wednesday - Group strength, always more difficult than I expect.
Thursday - Swimming with Jennifer
Friday - Set the alarm and woke up and stayed home.  oops.

Spring Residents

Look closely, a new family has taken up residence at the oddity. This is a birchbark bird house that my dad constructed and installed last year. There are no wrens in it yet, the bird it was made for, but the morning doves have found the roof a hospitable spot to build their spring home! Welcome. We are happy to have you.

Sweet sweet San Antonio

MMMMM Ceviche.

Guacamole made at your table.

The river walk. We walked around the entire thing and some parts twice.

Lovin the Tex Mex.

They have a bike rental program. The first half hour was free!

Obligatory Alamo visit. Wish we were early enough to see the museum. But I did get to see the only part of the Alamo that I was familiar with from Pee Wee's Big Adventure. The only thing that my generation knows about the Alamo is that Pee Wee was trying to get there.

Details of the San Antonio B cycle program!

2011: Year of Wisconsin State Parks

Goal: Visit 10 Wisconsin State Parks in 2011.
Progress: Bought the sticker and 2 down.

We visited Peninsula Sate Park near Fish Creek in Door County, WI. http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/peninsula/

Saturday, March 5, Dad, Andy and I hiked the 2 mile Eagle Trail at Peninsula State Park. It was a cold, windy and dreary day with almost no sun. We only met two other hikers on the trail and they were well equipped with their YakTrax and Hiking sticks. We had our homemade, forest found hiking sticks to help us up and down the treacherous terrain, of which there was some. The rocks, caves and landscape made the cold temps and intense winds all worth while.

Sunday, March 6, on the way home, Andy and I hiked Whitefish Dunes State Park near Sturgeon Bay, WI. http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/specific/whitefish/

We walked on the beach with the sound of the waves crashing into the icy sand. We took Red Trail back to the nature center to finish the 1.5 mile hike. On the way, we saw reproduced Native American huts and “villages” when they lived there from 600AD to 1400 AD.

We are lucky enough to have about 70 state parks in Wisconsin alone! So go out and find some trails and enjoy the greenery!
We have 8 more to visit this year.
Last year we only visited three awesome parks, so we will have to hop to it to make 10 this year.
-Peninsula State Park in Door County, WI.
-Willow River State Park near Hudson,WI
-Interstate Park near St.Croix Falls, WI

As for the rest of the trip we accomplished a lot. Ice skated, 1 dart game, 2 pool games, 3 games of swimming pool HORSE, 3 ping pong games, swam in 2 swimming pool, three hot tubs, water aerobics, 1 sauna, visited 2 state parks and 1 county park, shopped for road bicycles, watched one movie, played with nieces and enjoyed Wisconsin!
